What to Expect for Hair System & Future Hair Replacement Clients

At SBLHAIRLOSS of Pleasantville, we understand that every client’s hair loss condition, scalp health, lifestyle, and expectations are different.

Because there are many types of hair systems and attachment methods available on the market today, a careful and thorough analysis is required before selecting the appropriate solution for your needs.

There is no hard-and-fast rule for application that applies to every client.

What works well for one individual may not be suitable for another. We find your preference during a consultation.

Factors such as scalp condition, sensitivity, hair density, activity level, maintenance commitment, and long-term goals must all be evaluated carefully.

Due to the amount of skill, customization, and detailed care involved in ensuring client satisfaction, consultations must be scheduled in advance prior to your visit.

If you have questions regarding hair systems, scalp health, adhesives, maintenance, or candidacy for non-surgical hair replacement, we strongly recommend scheduling either:

*A virtual consultation call

*Or an in-person evaluation session

*An in-person consultation allows us to properly assess your scalp, existing hair, goals, and overall suitability for hair replacement services.

Interested in Maintaining Hair Growth While Wearing a Unit?

If your goal is to regrow or maintain existing hair while also wearing a hair system, it is important to understand the following criteria.

Clients seeking to maintain hair growth beneath a system should wear a removable hair system that does not resemble permanent hair placement.

These systems are commonly referred to as:

*Daily wear systems

*Clip-based Womens systems

*Glueless hair systems

These units are designed to be removed regularly and reattached using:

Light-hold adhesive products

Tacky hold gels

Or temporary attachment methods

If you wish to maintain or encourage hair growth underneath your unit, your system should not remain continuously attached with long-term adhesive applications.

The scalp must remain accessible for:

*Cleansing

*Scalp maintenance

*Topical applications

*Monitoring scalp health

*To help maintain scalp health and support existing hair growth, the scalp should be cleansed and maintained approximately 1–2 times weekly.

Important Notice

Hair replacement requires commitment and ongoing care.

If you are unwilling to:

*Properly care for your scalp and hair

*Establish a regular maintenance routine

*Schedule consistent maintenance visits with us or another salon

*Perform proper at-home care

*Support your body internally through nutrition and wellness

*Use recommended topical support products

…you may not be an ideal candidate for maintaining a hair system while attempting to regrow or preserve existing hair.

A 1-hour in-person consultation is required to evaluate the viability and condition of any existing hair.

Cranial Prosthesis Information-A cranial prosthesis cannot be accurately measured through a brief 20-minute virtual call, as each unit is custom-fitted specifically to your head and scalp measurements.

A 1-hour consultation is required for all cranial prosthesis fittings.

A cranial prosthesis is a durable, medical-grade hair replacement unit commonly designed for individuals experiencing moderate to severe hair loss or complete hair loss in certain areas.

These heavy-duty units are customized specifically for the individual and may sometimes incorporate existing hair depending on the client’s condition and goals.

Because cranial prostheses are highly customized, a detailed in-person consultation is required.

During this appointment, we will:

*Measure the exact treatment areas

*Evaluate scalp contours

*Discuss customization options

*Assess fit and density requirements

*Review maintenance expectations

Common Questions

Do I Need to Shave All of My Hair Off?

Not necessarily. Whether shaving is required depends on:

The type of system selected

Your existing hair density

Your desired outcome

The attachment method being used

Some systems require partial shaving, while others may work around existing hair.

Often, a complete shave is for Women whose hair will not re-grow and the client is not currently taking supplements, using light therapy or topical products to encourage hair growth

How Long Can I Wear the Unit?

Wear time varies based on:

*Scalp condition (see above)

*Lifestyle

*Perspiration levels

*Activity level

*Attachment method (see above)

Maintenance habits (do you wear a lace band, wear a head dress cover or sleep with a satin pillowcase, detangle your unit with regularity)

Some clients wear systems daily and remove them nightly, while others may wear them for longer periods under professional guidance.

Will the Unit Hold Up Against Sweat?

Many modern systems are designed to withstand normal daily activities, including exercise and perspiration.

We will modify the application methods for oily and sweaty skin.

However, excessive sweating, oils, humidity, and improper maintenance may affect hold time and longevity.

Your lifestyle and activity level will be discussed during your consultation to help determine the best option for you.

What Will the Chemicals or Adhesives Do to My Skin?

Every client’s skin sensitivity is different.

Certain adhesives, removers, or scalp preparation products may cause irritation in sensitive individuals.

If you have:

Allergies, Psoriasis, dermatitis or Sensitive skin

Autoimmune conditions

Previous reactions to adhesives or chemicals-THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED

please inform us prior to your CONSULTATION.

Patch testing may be recommended when appropriate.

How Do I Find Out What Is in the Adhesives or Products You Use? MSDs sheets may be found BELOW

We believe clients should feel informed and comfortable regarding the products used during their service.

Ingredient information and manufacturer details for adhesives, removers, scalp protectors, and cleansers can be discussed during your consultation.

Clients are encouraged to ask questions regarding all products used during their service.

If the chemical makeup is a concern, we understand.

Remember we expose ourselves to chemicals, soap and detergents, sunlight and Uv rays, aluminum deoderants, perfumes, herbicides such as RoundUp, PPD Hair color, WIFI signals, mercury in fish, glyphosates in food, food colorings and more. Ultimately, consider the opportunity to have a realistic hair replacement system and restore your confidence and express your freedom from removing a wig-based hair system and allowing it to remain in place without worry.

Do We Use Adhesive?

Attachment methods vary based on the client’s goals, scalp condition, lifestyle, and desired level of security.

Possible attachment methods may include:

Temporary or Daily wear adhesive tape method

Medical-grade adhesive

Tape systems

Light-hold gel systems

Glueless application methods

Can I Wear My System Without Adhesive?

In some cases, yes. Certain daily wear and glueless systems can be worn without traditional adhesive products depending on:

The type of system

Existing hair

Desired security level

Lifestyle needs

This will be discussed during your consultation and fitting process.

All product and adhesive recommendations are discussed with you in person, with attention to your scalp health, sensitivities and lifestyle. We encourage you to share any allergies, past reactions or medical diagnoses related to your skin or scalp so we can make appropriate suggestions.
